Artificial intelligence is already changing how people learn, work, and create. In education, students use AI to complete assignments and develop new skills, while teachers are discovering new ways to prepare lessons and manage their work.
But adoption raises important questions.
What happens to teaching when AI can generate a lesson plan in seconds? What should students learn when information and answers are always within reach? How can schools encourage innovation without compromising critical thinking, academic integrity, and meaningful human interaction?
These are some of the questions at the heart of the AI for Africa Education Summit (AAES) 2026.
Taking place on 10 September 2026 at the University of Lagos, AAES brings together teachers, students, education leaders, and other stakeholders to explore the practical and responsible use of AI in education.
The summit is supported by partners including Lagos State District 4, AI Unipod, and the Google Educator Group, whose contributions are helping to strengthen conversations around innovation, digital learning and responsible AI adoption across the education ecosystem.
As part of the programme, participants will also take part in an AI Unipod tour, offering an opportunity to explore the space, learn about its facilities and see how emerging technologies can support education, creativity and problem-solving.
The summit will move beyond general conversations about the potential of AI. Participants will examine the realities of AI adoption in Nigerian and African classrooms, emerging approaches to teaching and assessment, responsible use, academic integrity, and the ways AI is already shaping the world students are preparing to enter.
The programme will feature keynote sessions and panels. Teachers and administrators will explore new approaches to pedagogy, evaluation and responsible adoption, while students will examine how AI can support exploration, creativity, learning and career readiness.
The goal is to move educators and learners beyond awareness of AI towards confident and responsible use.
The future of education is already being shaped by AI.
Now, we must decide what role we want to play in shaping that future.
